I already talked about how I LOVE to create new art from old art
and what a fun transformation that can be. One of the reasons I enjoy doing that is because it is so economical--often FREE. Sometimes I even purchase a piece I don't really love so I can use the existing frame/mat/canvas for something else. Other times, I update a piece after I've used it for a while and I'm not feeling it as much in its original form.
I use old wall art to frame family photos, new art prints, and often create my own new paintings. While I think everyone can create their own abstract or landscape, I know not everyone WANTS to create their own art. So, I am sharing some of the recent landscapes I painted in different sizes and offering them as a free digital download. You can print them off on your home printer or have them printed somewhere. I can't remember the first example of fluted wood furniture I saw, but it was probably either this gorgeous custom wood bathroom vanity from Chris Loves Julia , or the DIY fluted coffee table Fariha shared on Pennies for a Fortune . The custom cabinetry was done professionally using a router for each line, which isn't something I possess the skills to do. This did help inspire the colors I used in our bathroom remodel, though! I really connected to the method Fariha used to build the coffee table--wooden dowels. What a fabulous idea!
