I loved the paint color and considered going with paint only this go around, but I really wanted some texture on the tv wall. Scott Living has faux grasscloth peel-and-stick wallpaper at Lowes. It's great because it has a little texture to it, so it looks more like actual grasscloth.
Here's a wallpaper tip: never start in the corner. Your corners are not straight! Start with a straight line, so you know your paper isn't going to be crooked--if you start crooked, it just gets worse as you go across the wall. I like to start against a door/window, so that's one less funky piece I have to cut around.
I've done peel-and-stick several times now, and it's something you get better at and become more skilled. This took me a couple of hours to complete and I worked around the television, instead of taking it down.
Once I got everything painted and wallpapered, I updated a few other things, too. I added these gorgeous blue cabbage plates by Southern Living Home at Dillards. They also have them in white, pink and green! They are reasonably priced and so pretty. I've always struggled with that long wall above the couch. I really that like the plates take your eye up the wall. So long, awkward blank space! I even painted the mats a creamy tan, so they aren't quite as stark of a white.
Oh, and I LOVE my rug. It's a washable rug by Feizy and I think it's my favorite I've ever had in here. To me, it's modern traditional, but a little bit western. I'm not sure that makes sense, but the main thing is I like it.
These are the white version of the Southern Living plates above our couch. The fireplace is the same--I used Romabio Lime Slurry to make that over a few years ago and it looks as good as the day I did it. You can see I've collected a lot of blue and white pieces.
