Rifle Paper Co Wallpaper Pomegranate Black & Linen

Rifle Paper Co Wallpaper

You know I love wallpaper! I've gone through some phases in our kitchen, but it was time for something more permanent. I put up peel-and-stick wallpaper here. I liked the simplicity of the white geometric pattern, but I kept being drawn to something bolder. I've always been attracted to Rifle Paper Co patterns (I love their rugs) and know their wallpaper is great quality, so I started my search there.

I absolutely love the Rifle wallpaper I used in our laundry room. It comes unpasted, so I always use a professional for installation. An amazing lady does all mine and she is so fast, I can hardly believe it! She is so talented! Maybe someday I'll learn to do it myself.

Since this wasn't a total remodel, I needed to work with the existing permanent parts of the kitchen. We have a mix of black lower and white upper cabinets, with some grey pantry cabinets, and hardwood floors. The backsplash is tiny marble tiles, so it's all very neutral, but didn't really lend itself to something navy. I stuck with something in the neutral color palette.

Pomegranate Black & Linen

After taping up samples for a couple weeks and living with them, I finally selected Rifle Paper Co Pomegranate in Black & Linen. I have to say when it first went up, it was so busy and bold, I questioned myself for a minute--lol! Once I started hanging up stuff on the walls again, I fell in love! I really couldn't love it more!

My best advice for picking out wallpaper is to decide what type you want to use first: removable or permanent. I have always had anything permanent professionally installed, which has been worth it for me. I have done peel-and-stick many times, and while it's not what I'd describe as an "easy" diy, it's also not impossible. Geometric patterns are most difficult, and anything with the look of grasscloth has been easy for me. I like to try several different patterns with different scale and colors. I can usually eliminate a few quickly and then keep my favorites up for a few days to help me decide. It's nice to see them at all times of day, kind of like paint colors. I also like to consider the connecting rooms and house overall when choosing a pattern. I like how this pattern looks in the kitchen, as well as the den.

I can't remember the first example of fluted wood furniture I saw, but it was probably either this gorgeous custom wood bathroom vanity from Chris Loves Julia , or the DIY fluted coffee table Fariha shared on Pennies for a Fortune . The custom cabinetry was done professionally using a router for each line, which isn't something I possess the skills to do. This did help inspire the colors I used in our bathroom remodel, though! I really connected to the method Fariha used to build the coffee table--wooden dowels. What a fabulous idea!

I did a little refresh in our daughter's room, and I decided we needed some large-scale art. I actually planned to order a print, but inspiration struck on a trip to HomeGoods when I saw two HUGE framed canvases on clearance for $25 and $9. I grabbed them up and headed home, with my head filled with ideas on what to do with them.
